Tropical disturbance, 8 a.m. Friday
OUTLOOK: Although the tropics are busy, only one system is of some interest to Florida, a disturbance in the Atlantic approaching the Leeward Islands - and for now it is being given a low chance of developing over the next five days.
WHAT FLORIDA CAN EXPECT: It's too early to say if the disturbance will affect the state.
PARTICULARS: "Significant development" of the low-pressure area is unlikely because of unfavorable upper-level winds, said hurricane specialist John Cangialosi of the National Hurricane Center.
LOCATION: 350 miles east of the Leeward Islands
MOVEMENT: Northwest at 10 mph
OTHER SYSTEMS: Hurricane Humberto, in the eastern Atlantic is expected to weaken into a tropical storm later today.
Gabrielle, about 585 miles southwest of Nova Scotia, Canada, has weakened back into a depression.
Tropical Depression 10, in the southern Gulf of Mexico, is forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Ingrid later today.
