Heavy rain likely across East Texas today

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Tropical moisture from what was once Hurricane Ingrid in eastern Mexico and Hurricane Manuel in western Mexico are streaming across East Texas this morning ahead of a cold front sinking into the area.

This is setting the stage for a widespread heavy rain event today through tomorrow morning.? Flash flood watches have been issued for Henderson and Anderson Counties until tomorrow morning for the anticipation of heavy rain with this event.

Overnight along the I-30 corridor many areas have seen up to 4 inches of rain so far.? The heaviest band of rain will slowly sink south today giving most of the area between 1 and 3 inches of rain with locally up to 6 inches of rain possible in a few area.? It also appears an area of low pressure will try to develop along this front causing the forward motion to slow later today.? This will more than likely keep rain in the forecast through much of the day tomorrow as well south of I-20.

As for or our Friday Night Football games, it looks wet, very wet.? Some of the heaviest rain will be moving across the area during evening hours, especially south of I-20.? There may also be a few isolated thunderstorms across the area causing a few lightning delays this evening.?

Once this system departs East Texas late tomorrow much drier air will move into the area.? This will allow low temperatures to drop into the 60s area wide with even a few upper 50s possible in our normally cooler locations Monday morning.? With the heavy rain soaking the ground temperatures will likely only warm into the upper 80s and lower 90s next week with more soil moisture available.?
